During the 1870's, L.C. Tiffany's jewelry designs took an interesting shift into subtle aspects of the natural world and sketches of dragonflies appear in his workbooks. Influenced by the arts of Japan, filtering into the consciousness of Europe and America through Great Expositions, a graceful vocabulary of nature's humbler fauna emerges in the Master's metal work. This hand wrought brooch inspired by Tiffany's design, captures many details, reminding us to stop and look again at it's creation.
